Bike the Full HMR Loop
The hikers' route adapted for mountain bikes on multi-use trails, with marked detours around the hikers-only sections.
Route Overview

The route is well-marked with wayfinding signs that show the official logo of the Park City Historic Mine Route: a stylized mine car filled with silver ore.
Mountain bikers are advised in this section where they will need to deviate from the hikers’ route and where they will rejoin the main HMR loop. The loop starts at the Park City Museum, 528 Main Street, and travels counterclockwise, traveling north and west from the Museum and finishes at the Museum.
Using the difficulty levels for mountain bike rides established by Park City Mountain Sports Club, this 10.7 mile ride is recommended for Moderate Plus (+) and Advanced riders.

The Route, Step by Step
01
Main Street to the Treasure Hill Trailhead
Photo to come — the start of the ride on Main Street.From the Museum, ride north on Main Street to Heber Avenue where the first site of historical interest will be found, Union Pacific Depot 2. Turning left on Heber Avenue one block to Park Avenue will be the Crescent Tramway 3.
Continue on the ride, which can be recognized by the rail-looking marks in the sidewalk, up to Empire Avenue where a left turn will take you to the Ol’ Miner Statue 4 on Lowell Avenue. A short distance on, more description of what to expect on the ride will be shared at the Treasure Hill Trailhead 5, before turning right up the Mother Urban trail.

Mother Urban to the Silver King Complex
Mother Urban starts at the Treasure Hill Trailhead.Follow Mother Urban about 4 miles to the intersection with the John’s 99 trail. Stay right on Mother Urban to the Mid-Mountain trail, and turn right when you reach Drift Road to get to the Silver King Coalition Mine Complex 10, 11 and 12.

Silver King to Empire Canyon

From the Silver King Mine 11, ride east on the doubletrack dirt service road past the abandoned electrical power substation toward the Silver King Mill 12 overlook. Continue east. Look for trail signs noting the Historic Mine Route and the trail named John’s 99, which will shortly cross the unpaved King Road.
Cross the Mother Urban trail 13 and continue straight on John’s 99 to the next wayfinding sign, where hikers will be directed left toward Empire Canyon on the New Connector trail. Mountain bikers are encouraged to continue on John’s 99 to the Empire Link trail. After turning left on Empire Link, follow it to Daly Grind below Deer Valley’s Lady Morgan lift and turn left again down to Ontario Ridge Road, just in front of the JM&S Co. office 16 building.

The Alliance Mine, OMG and Prospect
The Alliance Mine in Walker & Webster Gulch, ca. 1920.At this point in the ride, you can either continue east down Ontario Ridge Road or turn left (north) up toward a cluster of historic buildings, the Alliance Watchman’s Cabin 14 and the Alliance Mine 15 building.
Return downhill on the dirt service road back past the JM&S Co. office 16, the Explosives Magazine 17, the Daly-Judge Mill 18, John Daly in Empire Canyon 19 and the American Flag Mine 20. About 500 yards after historic site 20, look for the Historic Mine Route wayfinding sign and the two steep steps on the left, downhill, to the OMG trail.
Enjoy the shady forest trail, following the signs to the Prospect trail where you’ll pass the Daly-Judge Aerial Tram 21. This trail ends at Prospect Avenue, a paved but reasonably steep road.

Back to Main Street
The finish on Park City's Historic Main Street.At the bottom of Prospect Avenue, turn right on Chambers Ave to ride south to the intersection of Marsac Avenue. Cross Marsac with care, minding the traffic, to see and hear historic stories 23 and 24 associated with the Judge Aerial Tram loading station as well as the Ontario Mine and Mill.
Follow the Historic Mine Route wayfinding signs back to Hillside Avenue and follow it to finish the route on Main Street; about 0.3 miles north to the Park City Museum 1.
Your ride finishes on Park City’s Historic Main Street, lined with a range of tempting restaurants to reward yourself with lunch, a snack, or a cool drink. Public restrooms are available at Miners Park, 415 Main Street, and next to the Park City Museum at 528 Main Street.
