Crown Jewel of the Route
Silver King Mine
The mighty Silver King Coalition headframe building — site #11 — sits within a 31-acre National Historic District designated in December 2024. It's the centerpiece of one of the largest collections of surviving silver mining structures in the Park City Mining District.
The Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History raised more than $1.6 million dollars to restore the iconic building to how it looked in 1953, when mining ceased at this location. The four-year project was completed in 2025 and won two historic preservation awards.
Along the full Park City Historic Mine Route loop you'll encounter aerial tramways, rail stations, explosive magazines, watchman's cabins, milling facilities, and water drain tunnels — all preserved in Park City's mountain landscape.
