What compelled you to join the Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History?
In early 2025, I read a notice in the Friends’ newsletter asking for help on social media, and that small request has blossomed into a full-fledged volunteer marketing role. I’m retired from a career in agency and brand marketing, but still craved a worthy passion project – and I certainly found it!
What I enjoy most about the Friends and the Historic Mine Route
I enjoy history, Western history, preservation, mountains and skiing. I knew very little about mining. Now I’ve learned so much from our local experts, and enjoy knowing how the silver mining era set Park City on a path for what it is today.
The camaraderie among our group to focus on a project and get it done is incredible. What’s really astounding is that everyone is putting in the hours as a volunteer. The level of expertise and professionalism of those leading and contributing to our projects, lectures, and history hikes and ski tours is first class. I find it energizing to be around our group. I’m really enjoying putting my decades of professional experience and my journalism degree from University of Florida toward a great cause.
About me
Preserving the past is a theme for my volunteer work. I currently serve as an ambassador for the heritage 910 Ranch in Summit County, Utah. I served six years on the Board of Summit Land Conservancy, most recently as Board President.
My husband and I moved to Utah in 1996. We were drawn to the beautiful Utah outdoor lifestyle, and I was offered a job leading marketing at FIT, a leading fitness technology company that also owns NordicTrack, ProForm, and FreeMotion Fitness. Previously, I worked at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in Chicago, where the people are friendly and welcoming, but winters are long, gray, and sad. We love the vibrancy of the Park City community in every season.
