TravelStorys Audio Guide
How to use it
- Download the free TravelStorys audio guide for iPhone or Android
- Open the app as you start to hike or bike
- Listen to the Guided Tour — or choose the Self-Guided Tour option
- View historical photos for all 24 sites of historic interest along the Route
The free TravelStorys app includes an interactive map that lists the 24 historic sites of interest around the HMR loop. The Guided Tour starts at the Park City Museum and follows the loop counterclockwise through all the numbered sites with stories. The Self-Guided Tour lets the audio-visual presentations play in any order — when you get close enough to a site, the audio begins automatically.
Before you head out, set the app’s location access to “always allow,” so the content plays correctly even if your phone falls asleep. Tap the information button in the lower-left corner of the screen for background on the tour and tips on how to use it.
The HMR tour can also be viewed from home on a desktop computer. For the full walkthrough, see our Audio Guide page.

Google Maps
Find the HMR in Google Maps — look for the map called “Park City Historic Mine Route.” It has layers you can toggle on-screen, such as Historic Sites and Mile Markers.
Pull the map up on your phone and the app displays your position in real time as a small blue circle. Google Maps does not give turn-by-turn directions, but following the blue “you are here” circle will show if you are off-course.

Use the elevation profile to check the grade at any point along the route, and tap Preview route for a 3-D “fly-through” view of the full loop.
