For those of you following our tour route from sites 1 to 24, you’ve almost reached the end of the Historic Mine Route. There are a few other historic stories to hear related to the Daly-Judge and Ontario Mines turning up Chambers Avenue and crossing Marsac Avenue. After hearing those stories, you’ll turn around and pass back by here and can continue to the Historic Chambers Neighborhood trail that will lead you back to Main Street and the Park City Museum. If you’d prefer to finish the hike here, keep walking to Hillside Avenue and follow the wayfinding signs back to the Museum. And if you’re interested in more Park City history along the way, please switch over to the “Experience Park City History” self-guided tour in the TravelStorys app.
Either way, your hike will finish on Park City’s Historic Main Street, lined with a range of tempting restaurants to reward yourself with lunch, a snack, or a cool drink. Public restrooms are available at Miners Plaza pocket park, 415 Main Street, and next to the Park City Museum at 528 Main Street.
If you’re hiking your own route, you have several options to choose from: you can continue up Prospect Avenue from here to visit the historic sites in Empire Canyon. You might also follow Chambers Avenue up and crossing Marsac Avenue to hear stories related to the Daly-Judge and Ontario Mines, or you can walk to Hillside Avenue to head to Main Street and the Museum.
On behalf of Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History and the Park City Museum, wherever you are on the trail today, we hope these stories from Park City’s mining past make your hike a little richer. Please spend some time in the museum at 528 Main Street, and visit the Park City Historic Mine Route website to learn more and donate in support of our efforts to save Park City’s last remaining silver mining structures.
